If you are unable to attend an in-person audition—or simply prefer to audition remotely—5-Star Theatricals is accepting self-tape submissions.

Submit your audition by emailing casting@5startheatricals.com.

Your submission should include:

• A current headshot

• A current theatrical résumé

• A short vocal selection appropriate to the style of Les Misérables

• Singing from Les Misérables is welcome and encouraged, but it is not required

• Please sing with either a backing track or live accompaniment. Do not sing a cappella.

• ​

Slate Requirements

Your slate should include:

• Your name

• Your height

• Your Equity status (AEA or Non-AEA)

• Confirmation that you are based in the Los Angeles/Thousand Oaks area or are available to work as a local hire

• Your age only if you are auditioning for Gavroche, Young Cosette, or Young Éponine

Video Submission Guidelines

5-Star requests that performers submit their audition using a downloadable video link.

Preferred platforms include:

• Dropbox

• Google Drive

• Vimeo

The company specifically asks performers not to submit YouTube links.

Before sending your audition, double-check that your sharing permissions allow the casting team to access your video. If permissions are restricted, they may not be able to view your submission.

While WeTransfer links will be accepted, the company notes that these links sometimes expire before the casting team has a chance to review every audition.

Equity Principal Auditions

Actors' Equity Principal Auditions (EPA) will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Performers should prepare a short musical selection appropriate to the style of the show. Singing from Les Misérables is permitted. An accompanist will be provided, and performers should bring a current headshot and résumé.

Jean Valjean

Character: Male, 30s–50s, any ethnicity
Voice: Baritone/Tenor, approximately G2–B4

The moral center of the story, Valjean requires exceptional emotional and vocal stamina. The performer must convey both strength and tenderness and comfortably handle the demands of songs including “Bring Him Home.”

Javert

Character: Male, 30s–50s, any ethnicity
Voice: Bass/Baritone, approximately F2–F♯4

A commanding authority figure with an uncompromising belief in law and order. The role calls for a dark, driving vocal quality and the weight and control needed for material including “Stars.”

Fantine
